【摘要】:Thisguideprovidesinformationaddressingtheconditionsthatleadtofuelmicrobialcontaminationandbiodegradationandthegeneralcharacteristicsofandstrategiesforcontrollingmicrobialcontamination.ItcomplimentsandamplifiesinformationprovidedinPracticeD4418onhandlinggas-turbinefuels.MoredetailedinformationmaybefoundintheIPGuidelinesandinASTMManual47.Thisguidefocusesonmicrobialcontaminationinrefinedpetroleumproductsandproducthandlingsystems.Uncontrolledmicrobialcontaminationinfuelsandfuelsystemsremainsalargelyunrecognizedbutcostlyproblematallstagesofthepetroleumindustryfromcrudeoilproductionthroughfleetoperationsandconsumeruse.Thisguideintroducesthefundamentalconceptsoffuelmicrobiologyandbiodeteriorationcontrol.Thisguideprovidespersonnelwhoareresponsibleforfuelandfuelsystemstewardshipwiththebackgroundnecessarytomakeinformeddecisionsregardingthepossibleeconomicorsafety,orboth,impactofmicrobialcontaminationintheirproductsorsystems.1.1Thisguideprovidespersonnelwhohavealimitedmicrobiologicalbackgroundwithanunderstandingofthesymptoms,occurrence,andconsequencesofchronicmicrobialcontamination.Theguidealsosuggestsmeansfordetectionandcontrolofmicrobialcontaminationinfuelsandfuelsystems.Thisguideappliesprimarilytogasoline,aviation,boiler,industrialgasturbine,diesel,marine,furnacefuelsandblendstocks(seeSpecificationsD396,D910,D975,D1655,D2069,D2880,D3699,D4814,D6227,andD6751),andfuelsystems.However,theprinciplesdiscussedhereinalsoapplygenerallytocrudeoilandallliquidpetroleumfuels.ASTMManual47providesamoredetailedtreatmentoftheconceptsintroducedinthisguide;italsoprovidesacompilationofallofthestandardsreferencedhereinthatarenotfoundintheAnnualBookofASTMStandards,SectionFiveonPetroleumProductsandLubricants.1.2Thisguideisnotacompilationofalloftheconceptsandterminologyusedbymicrobiologists,butitdoesprovideageneralunderstandingofmicrobialfuelcontamination.1.3ThevaluesstatedinSIunitsaretoberegardedasstandard.Nootherunitsofmeasurementareincludedinthisstandard.1.4Thisstandarddoesnotpurporttoaddressallofthesafetyconcerns,ifany,associatedwithitsuse.Itistheresponsibilityoftheuserofthisstandardtoestablishappropriatesafetyandhealthpracticesanddeterminetheapplicabilityofregulatorylimitationspriortouse.
